WHO WE ARE – OWNERS AND GUIDES

Georges Mally, owner and guide, moved to Santa Fe in May 2007 from Paris, France. Georges, who speaks French, Bulgarian, English, and Russian, is an avid outdoors enthusiast and loves hiking, bicycling, and skiing. He has hiked throughout Europe (the Alps and the Balkans) and parts of Asia (Thailand) and Africa (Madagascar); he has also bicycled through much of France. His most recent adventures by bicycle include a trip from Chicago to Los Angeles on the Old Route 66, and a two week tour of the Four Corners region. Georges loves the mountains of New Mexico as well as its rich cultural heritage and is thrilled at the opportunity to share his passion with fellow hikers. Georges is certified in Wilderness First Aid, and has his First Aid/CPR certification.

Sue Mally, co-owner, packed her belongings and headed west to New Mexico from New York in late 2004. She and her two Border Collies, Kip and Derby (who crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2009 and 2010), spent countless hours exploring the trails around Santa Fe before serendipitously meeting Georges in September, 2006, and jointly deciding to start Santa Fe Walkabouts. A finance major, Sue is responsible for the day to day operations of the company but she often heads out on the shorter trails and scenic tours with clients. She loves the beauty of New Mexico, the brilliant blue skies, and the tranquility of the mountains. Like Georges, Sue is very grateful to be able to call New Mexico home. She is eager to share her love of the area and looks forward to being able to organize a special day for visitors – “Come experience the natural beauty of New Mexico. Let’s go on a Walkabout and reconnect with nature!”

Murjo Mally, Border Collie extraordinaire, is the new mascot for Santa Fe Walkabouts. Born in Mora County, New Mexico, he’s a true native who loves working with Georges and Sue and checking out new trails for our clients!
FAVORITE POEMS AND QUOTES
The Road Not Taken – Robert Frost
| Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, |
| And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black, Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. |
“The mountains are calling me and I must go.” – John Muir
“When I got to New Mexico that was mine. As soon as I saw it that was my country. I’d never seen anything like it before, but it fitted to me exactly. It’s something that’s in the air – it’s different. The sky is different, the wind is different. I shouldn’t say too much about it because other people might be interested and I don’t want them interested.”
– Georgia O’Keeffe
