Easy High Desert Ride – Santa Fe to Lamy
Ride the Rail Trail south of Santa Fe with views of the surrounding mountains – the Sangre de Cristo, the Sandias and the Jemez Mountains. The trail runs 18 miles from Santa Fe to a small town called Lamy; we’ll take you as far as you’d like to go at an enjoyable pace. This is a perfect outing for beginners who simply want to ride the high desert trails of New Mexico.

Caja de Rio Plateau – ride to the Rio Grande
Another high desert ride, the Caja del Rio outing is rated moderate as there are some short, steep climbs along the dirt roads. This area of Northern New Mexico is remote and rugged – it was dotted millions of years ago by volcanoes, the remnants of which are still visible. The round trip loop of 8 miles typically takes 2 hours and, at the turnaround point, you’ll have an opportunity to view the Rio Grande River.

Aspen Vista – Strenuous and challenging ride in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains
Starting at approximately 10,000 feet, ride the Aspen Vista Trail to the top of Tesuque Peak (12,045 feet). It’s a strenuous and long climb, 6 miles up, and it’s not for the faint of heart. The views, however, are spectacular and it’s a beautiful ride in the autumn when the aspens are changing color.
